Britcar Endurance Championship Round Three. 30/31 May 2025. Snetterton UK.

Another Safety Car Fiasco.

Barton Racing, along with their BMW E46 (Powered by Geoff Steel) M3, arrived bright and early ready for a full day of testing on the Friday, followed next day by morning practice/qualifying and finally, a pair of forty-minute races, split by one hour, on Saturday afternoon. The weather was set fair with plenty of sunshine, and hopes were high.

The only problem during testing was a failed starter motor, easily fixed, thus Harry sporting his new red white and blue crash helmet) could use the allotted time bedding in brakes etc, and  learning the complicated three mile Snetterton circuit. At close of play on Friday lap times, down in the ‘fifty-nines’ were very competitive and the team retired to the bar quietly confident.

With some thirty-two cars on the grid qualifying was split into two groups. Harry put in an excellent 1.58.555, only beaten by the lead Ferrari and two Porsche Cup Cars.

Race 1 and the second Porsche was forced to start from the pit-lane so without even trying Barton Racing had already moved up a place! First lap, and the first safety car intervention, lasting eight minutes. Then two more, the last for sure losing Harry his podium position, leaving him fourth overall, and class winner.

The outcome of Race 2 was again decided by lengthy official delays. Harry was holding down a confident 3rd place at half distance, when the safety car returned. The minutes ticked by (seventeen in all), and the never ending slow moving snake probably led to our BMW being sidelined with overheating problems with just two laps remaining. Our first non-finish of the season.  Ends.
