Silverstone Festival 2024
All the Fun of the Fair. Plenty of Ups and Downs. The Best Saved till Last.
Highlight of this long and weather beaten, four-day weekend came in the final seconds of the last race when Harry crossed the line to finish a memorable 3rd place overall in the highly competitive International Trophy for Classic Pre-66 GT Cars, only beaten by a pair of Shelby American Cobra Daytonas. Fifty-four cars qualified, and most finished, so it was a tough fifty minutes for all concerned, including our Reuben Racing pit crew who performed admirably.
Harry also collected another class win, fifth in a row, with the Retro Engineering prepared 1965 BMW 1800 TiSA in the previous Masters Pre-66 Touring Car Race (renamed Pure Michigan Mustang Celebration Trophy for the occasion).
Other memorable moments during the Festival included a brief appearance, driving a Mosler MT900R, in qualifying for the Masters Endurance Legends, and a 30th overall (Masters GT Trophy) in the Toyota Supra GT4 with Nigel Greensall. A much better result was on the cards until heavy rain stopped play.
All in all then, Silverstone proved a game of long waits punctuated by surprise and ultimately, success.
