04/05/2024 Donington Park. England
Just seven days after taking a real bruising at Spa Francorchamps (two engine failures and a non-finish) Barton Racing, thanks to the supreme efforts of master builder Nigel Reuben and his small team, re-appeared at Donington Park ready for yet another three hour endurance race. And what a race.
With the promise of fine dry weather, a formidable list of well known drivers in twenty-nine cars lined up late afternoon for the MLR Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall Cup, with TVRs filling the top three places on the grid. Frenetic from the word go, Harry made his first pit stop under the safety car after less than half an hour. Fuel was added and Ollie took over. The fight among the leaders continued, positions changing on a regular basis. After the second compulsory stop, Harry was back in the car for the remaining hour and put in another of his epic drives, the twenty-one year old switching places time and again with the much more experienced John Davison. After three hours of hard racing and now firmly in brake saving mode, Harry crossed the line in fourth place, still only thirty-five seconds behind the winner. No prizes but without doubt, in terms of trying and succeeding, the best race to date for Barton racing and everyone involved.
