10-13 July. Goodwood England.

Festival of Speed. This was a guaranteed big weekend in the life of Barton Racing, with maximum exposure for both team, and Harry. Imagine. First competition appearance for our Lister Storm in front of a home crowd since 2001. The car actually debuted at Monza that year, and won outright. And now, thanks to preparers Retro Engineering, the Storm was ready to go again, it looked and sounded sheer perfection. Definitely game on.

The sunshine needle was off the gauge all four days with temperatures hitting thirty degrees, and no sign of rain, making for thirsty work in the paddock, and on the hill. Team orders: Simple. Have fun, entertain the massive crowd, but no red mist. Of course as the weekend progressed, the car, and driver, picked up pace and made it into the final shootout on Sunday afternoon. Harry finished 13th overall, way ahead of expectations, and perhaps, of more importance, the car stayed in one piece. Well, actually, the bonnet did fly off, but nothing serious. There now follows more testing, and then hopefully, two races at Silverstone Festival, where the Lister Storm took pole exactly twenty four years ago. It’s going to be another day of emotion.
